Checked this morning - no Duckman. Log showed no errors, no download. All the others in the queues ahead of me were gone also. So somehow queues must have been cleared or reset. Set up again and went to work. Came home and found Duckman episode #04!! Played it. Great Even had the credits. A big thanks and a tip of the hat to Kronicus and SpareHead2 for all of their help. (And also to Kronic on the off chance he is not Kronicus.) You all were a big help to a newbie to IRC. So for those who haven't tried - Duckman is alive and well on DALnet. Not easy to set up and lots of little frustrations. But if you want them, episodes are there. Just follow the instruction given by Kronic in this newsgroup. Good luck. ------------------------------- On the VHS conversion front, progress of a sort too. Found an old 9500 Power Mac for $100. Nice big chassis, can hold 5 drives. Perfect for a server. Even have some memory for it in one of the Apple parts boxes. So there goes my weekend. Played around with the Pioneer DVD-R/W at work today. Another new batch of software to learn. DVD authoring is going to be a bitch for for a non-software type like me. Whole new languages to learn. Software costs hell of lot more than hardware, so also will be a painful investment. Dazzle not in yet, gives time to get server working. Have old VCR to play with the VideoFX box and software. Good preliminary hands-on learning experience. Time to breathe deep and start. Figure the rest of the summer to set-up, debug, edit and convert. Will let the newsgroup know when I cut my first DVD successfully.
